There are unhealthy and risky results from monetarily incentivising our young cadets/soldiers (and even their young gfs, if any or potential non-mili spouses) to get married and have kids as soon as they start their military life, most of them just fresh out of highschool, 18yo thru 24yo. Really alarming high rate of divorce among young Mili vets even with 2-3 children already.
Why not move most of the mili funds like all the great military benefits of being married and have kids to start at age ~25 or even 30yo..
And instead, for 18yo thru 24yo, increase their starting salaries and disburse all the promised allowances at each end of rank fulfilled or in aliquots with their bi-monthly salaries, or whatever possible sooner disbursement instead of giving the accumulated allowances only at the end of each step-up rank or end of their contract which is minimum 4years.
My hs classmates and relatives were totally not aware before signing up, that those allowances they’ll be earning from the very beginning through their on-camp and combat services won’t be given to them up until their 4yr. contract is fulfilled (or after each rank-up).
For sure the newbies up to age 24yo would unanimously prefer having money in their own pockets while as single young men still exploring possible career paths, have higher starting salaries, being given their allowances with their bi-monthly salary or disbursed quarterly, and not having to wait for years for their disbursrments. And having salary raises and more saved up money in their bank accounts – A dream of every single young man.
Those are far more incentivising and highly motivating to stay and do best rather than getting shoved into getting married just to get awarded more benefits and girls running after Mili boys maybe mainly for those awesome mili spouse incentives like free college ed. for mili spouses as well.
Incentivising to get married and have kids during such young age and so early in their military vocations/careers is not sustainable for military life.
And the going off to long trainings and combat will never be compatible with ‘Just Got Married’ or ‘Just Had A Baby’ or “Where’s my dada?”

Good life becomes more sustainable.
